Dear Jackson,
Today you and I spent the day at home catching up on a few things. I think you have decided you would like to take 1 nap during the day instead of 2.
We went to the small park right by our house and played for a while. I took you on the swing with me and you thought it was pretty great. You were smiling the whole time and kept giggling.
Tonight you have been answering questions alot saying Ya, ya. Or new for no. You vocabulary is coming right along. You have also started to say baby, quiet a bit.

Dear Jackson,
Today we had our baby toddler group. It was a really hot day in the Netherlands at 84 degrees so they got out a pool for all of you kids to play in. You loved splashing in the water and running around in your diaper! It was funny to see you all wet in your diaper. It weighed about 10 pounds when I took it off of you. It was a couple of the kids' birthdays so we sang happy birthday and they had cake.
On the way home you fell asleep with in about 5 minutes of getting in the car. You slept for 3 hours after we got home so I say you had a good time! You are now getting to the point where you like playing with other kids so I think you are really enjoying the play groups now!!! It's fun to see you interacting with other kids now!

Tuesday June 26th, 2012
Dear Jackson,
Today we took the train to Amsterdam for the first time! We had a great experience, you had alot of fun on the train and then took a nap the rest of the way!!! While we were in Amsterdam, we took a bus tour around the city and went to the Anne Frank house and museum. We played in a park and then you fell asleep while we walked all over the city and saw the red light district. (not my favorite part).
We had to say goodbye to Uncle Adam, Auntie Rachel, and Ellie because they were on their way to Sweden from Amsterdam! It was hard because we won't see them again until we go back home in March.
On the train ride home you did really well, you played the whole way home, but by the end were really tired!! It was a great day in Amsterdam!!!

Dear Jackson~
Today was your cousin Ellie's 5th birthday so we all went to Toverland an Amusement Park for smaller kids. You had so much fun running through the fountain that sprayed up from the ground. you also played on the jungle gyms and some how managed to get a fat lip. You even got to go on a ride! Tomorrow we are going to Amsterdam with Adam, Rachel, and Ellie! It should be fun, we're taking the train for the first time!

Dear Jackson~
Today you are 15 months old. Hard to believe how fast the last year has gone! It feels like you should only be 3 months old!!
On Thursday, we went with Adam, Rachel and Ellie to a park in Eindhoven. You got to go to the petting zoo and you loved seeing the goats and sheep. you were patting them like you pet Grace our dog. You were very upset when we had to leave!! You also got to play with life size lego blocks which you loved!
Yesterday was just a relaxing day at home while Daddy worked and our visitors when off on their own. You and Ellie had a babysitter at night (this is only your 2nd time with a babysitter) while Adam, Rachel, Daddy and I went out for dinner.
Today we are off to the bell museum in Asten and then to Daddy's work for John Deere's 175th Anniversary party!

Dear Jackson~
Yesterday we picked up your Uncle Adam, Auntie Rachel, and cousin Ellie from the airport in Dusseldorf, Germany. You screamed in the car the whole way home. I think you were a little scared of seeing them.
We showed them around our town by walking all over the place! You have been playing really well with Ellie!!! You even got to take a bath with her!
Today we went to the castle in Arcen and walked around for a few hours, you got to see ducks, birds and lots of flowers! Then we went and played in the grass for a while. Both you and Ellie fell asleep in the car on the way home!

Today we had a playdate at our house with 3 other kids your age! You all had a great time playing on your slide! Nobody wanted to share any toys so there was alot of crying! Tonight you had a rough night going to sleep. You cried and cried until I went to hold you. I'm not sure what the problem was but you finally fell asleep.

Me again! It was Father's Day today and we had a great day. We went to the Fun Market in Eindhoven, you and I shared an ice cream. Then we went to the park and you played on the slide. Finally, we went out to eat. It was a great day. Every day I love getting up and playing with you.

Dear Jackson,
It's Dad writing today. Been a long week for me at work but it was great to be home and spend Saturday with you. We went to my boss' house for supper in Horst. My boss' boss was also there. You had a great time playing with William and Isabella, you got all wet and dirty playing outside after the rain.
We had to bring you in and change you into a BIG shirt from William. You found the orange "Holland" hat and loved putting it on and walking around. Everyone was watching you and laughing. It was a fun Saturday night!

Dear Jackson~
Yesterday we had a coffee morning with the Baby/Toddler Group with is part of the International Women's Club. there were about 10 moms and close to 20 kids all inside one house. All children are under 4 years old so there are lots of friends for you to play with! You always have a great time when we get together 2 times each month and then take a big nap afterwards.
Today however was very quiet; cold and rainy in the Netherlands! Today I realized you really know alot of works and can understand pretty much everything I say to you!
Some of your favorites words to say are Go, Grace, Dada, mama, spooo (spoon), ball, book, bird, and bush.

Dear Jackson~
Today should have been a pretty quiet day at home, but after changing your dirty diaper I went outside to throw it away and the door locked behind me! I couldn't believe it, you were just looking at me through the window smiling away! I tried a couple of the doors in the back of the house but of course they were locked! Luckily we have given our neighbors a spare key and they were home. So I was able to get inside before you even knew anything was wrong!! It scared me half to death though! Otherwise a normal day at home.

Dear Jackson~
Your dad and I have decided to keep a journal for you to remember all the fun things you did when you were little and a way to see all the big events in your life.
We are hoping to write something everyday. Maybe just a line or two about the big things we did or funny things you said or did that day. We have been meaning to do this since you were born, so we're about 15 months late! Better late than never!!
Here's a little recap of what's been going on. Daddy got asked to do an expatriote assignment in the Netherlands just after we found out we were going to have you! We moved when you were 5 weeks old and have been living here ever since. It has now been 13 months and we have about 8 1/2 months left.
Right now your favorite thing to do is be outside. You love everything about it! Running and playing in the grass, watching the birds, touching the bushes, and you cry when you have to come inside!
You love to feed yourself and are very independent in everything you do.
So finally we will get started with today! You decided you will start to go down your toy slide all alone. Every day before you have always had help but today you went down all alone and thought it was great! you probably went down 40 times!
This afternoon we went to your friend Liam Coffey's house. He is about 5 months younger than you but you two are about the same size. You didn't want to share anything with him, but wanted mommy to have it instead.
We ordered Domino's Pizza which was unique and a real treat because they do not have alot of American restaurants here in the Netherlands. The was the first time you had it and only liked the cheese bread, not the pizza.
You had a great time bouncing like a bunny and playing with Liams. You even put your arm around him! I wished I had brought my camera! Ok, until tomorrow!
