Dear Jackson,
Happy New Year! You're almost 2 years old already, I can't believe it. We had a great Christmas and New Years here in the Netherlands. Daddy got 2 whole weeks off of work and we just played and went lots of neat places with you. We went to a train museum, which you loved, an indoor water park, (of course you loved that too), and lots of indoor play places. We figured we have traveled so much that it would be nice to just spend some time together for daddy's time off. It was so great and now every morning you're looking for Daddy and every night asking me, Daddy home?? It's so sweet. I think he loves it too! You're both so excited to see each other at the end of the day. It makes me so happy!
For New Year's we went over to Liam's house and had a slumber party. The Netherlands has tons of fire works for the New year and you boys thought they were great! Mommy and Daddy had a lot of fun too! We were all pretty exhausted the next day though! It was mommy's favorite new years that I can remember!
Since then we have just been catching up with all your friends that have returned from their trips to the U.S. You have been having lots of play dates each week and are so excited to see the bigger boys like Kaelen and Ryan. I think they like to play with you too. You keep up really well and are always so exhausted when we go home.
You are just a talking machine. Daddy and I were counting and came up with over 170 words. I know there are more that we couldn't think of! You're eating a ton and actually putting on some weight! You're up to 24 pounds now, I finally feel like I don't have to worry about you being too skinny :)
There are only 38 more days for us here in the Netherlands. I think we're all really ready to get back home. I'm just so excited for you to be in your own room and bed. What a new adventure it will be for all of us! I love you so much, sweet boy!

Dear Jackson,
It's Christmas Eve! We didn't do a whole lot today, just went to the store to get Grace a Christmas gift. The rest of the day we spent at home playing together. This afternoon though after your nap we skyped with Grandma and Grandpa Fausch and Adam, Rachel, Ellie and Charlie. Everyone was so excited to see each other! You got to open 2 presents while we were talking to them. You got a tractor book that Auntie Rachel made and a whole bunch of tractors from Grandma and Grandpa. We have lots more to open but we're waiting until tomorrow to open them.
Then we skyped with Nana and Grandpa Mark. Your uncles were all there too and you kept calling them all Guy. It was so funny!! You also opened one present while we were talking with them and you got a new train set. It runs on its own so you liked that a lot too! You were so excited tonight and happy to be playing with your new toys.
We can't wait for tomorrow to celebrate Christmas day with you!

Dear Jackson,
We started our Christmas stay-cation this week. We will spend 11 straight days together and have planned all sorts of fun things to do. So far it has been so much fun spending time with our little family abroad in Holland for Christmas.
Yesterday you continued your advent activities and made a reindeer. You helped and provided the antlers, Dad painted the nose, and Mom colored the rest. It turned out great!
We also went to the indoor playground yesterday, 123 speilgoed. You had so much fun playing in the balls and climbing around the playground.
Today we went up to Utrecht to the Train Museum. Since it was right before Christmas they had all sorts of Christmas decorations and activities. You especially liked the Carousel and riding the horse. You said "neigh-neigh" the whole time. You liked it so much you road it twice; once with Mommy and once with Daddy. The train station had all sorts of old trains that you could go in and play on. We all had a really great time!
So far our stay-cations has been so much fun. Tomorrow is Christmas Eve, can't wait to see what you think of your presents.

Dear Jackson,
We had quite a weekend! Friday night Daddy and Mommy went to a work party so Cecille baby sat you. You had a good time with the Dutch babysitter. Co Co as you call her.
Christmas is coming up in one week, so Saturday Mommy and I went shopping for each other. We'll see what presents we got on the 25th. Hopefully she likes my presents!
Today we went to a Christmas market in Valkenburg. The market was in a cave! It was really pretty cool. We let you walk around in the cave and took your picture next to all sorts of Christmas things. When we got back to the car we had a ticket on our car. But it was not just a small parking ticket it was for 340 euro! Oops! Made for an expensive trip!
Tonight you and I played hide-and-seek upstairs before bedtime. It was so much fun! You laughed so hard when I would jump out from my hiding spot.

Dear Jackson,
I meant to write yesterday because we had such a fun morning. We had a brunch at our house for the North American Women's Club kids. So we had some of the usuals over to our house and you all got to play and run around the house for a while and then we decorated some of the Christmas cookies we had made.
You all just loved it, eating the frosting and the sprinkles and making a huge mess. It's what you do best :)
After that it was lunch and you were all running around and playing together again, you were worn out afterwards!!
Today we just went to the gym and hung out around the house. Tonight you had a little fever again so I'm hoping it is just a one night thing and you are better in the morning. Poor baby you were finally feeling back to normal!

Dear Jackson,
We have had a really great week. We have started a Christmas advent calendar and have been making all kinds of Christmas things. You seem to really enjoy doing all the arts and crafts. It's fun for me too, something different.
Today it snowed in the Netherlands, about 5 inches. That's ALOT for here. So we got to go outside and play in the snow. You ran around and Grace followed you, then Grace sprinted around and you followed her giggling the whole time. We threw snowballs up in the air and we made a snowman. It was the first time you have played in the snow and we had so much fun. I love seeing you so happy!
Afterwards we made some hot coco, well warm coco for you :) You thought it was pretty good, but your favorite part was the marshmallows.
Tonight with daddy you had him chasing you around the house for about 20 minutes, you just loved it and were laughing so much. I think you will be one tired little man tonight.

Dear Jackson,
I'm happy to say I think you're back to your normal self!! It has been 2 weeks of pretty much being miserable. Not only you, but us as well! You got sick after we got home from Prague and finally I think you're feeling back to normal. You are running and laughing, and finally playing again by yourself.
It was hard on your daddy and I because you were so unhappy and crying a lot while you were sick. This weekend was great though. We got out of the house in the morning and ran into the Zwarte Piets for Sinter Klaas here in the Netherlands. They are like Santa's little elves and give out candy to the kids in town.
We got you a new tent to play in and you love it. You spent tons of time playing in there and think it's so funny when Grace or Daddy or I get in with you. We also got to go to Kaelen's 4th birthday party. It was a pirate theme and you love to say "daarrrr" like a pirate. (Daddy taught you this) You ran around with the big boys getting chased by Ryan's dad.
Kaelen got a Holland bus for his birthday that he already had so we bought it from them and you love it too. You were spoiled this weekend! You deserve it though after being so sick for so long. You ate just as much as mommy all day long!
We have started an advent calendar or activities to do to celebrate Christmas. Yesterday we made the calendar and today we made some snowmen out of cotton balls. You had a great time throwing around the cotton balls and coloring on your "baby" snowman!
It was a great weekend and I'm looking forward to the week with you!
